Zopiclone is an anticonvulsant, used to treat insomnia. Its therapeutic effects are known to improve human performance in studies involving healthy volunteers. Despite its potential for abuse, zopiclone is not addictive, and its risk of dependence is very low. In addition to its effects on sleep, it can lead to alcohol euphoria and dependency if used for more than four weeks.
The drug comes as an oval, film-coated tablet. It is 7.5 mg in strength, and contains debossed markings:Blue zopiclone 7.5 mg. Other nonmedicinal ingredients in the medication include lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, titanium dioxide, and carnauba wax. It is not recommended for use by pregnant or breastfeeding women.
