What lies beneath the surface of calm waters is often surprising.
Several small rivers and streams roar and gurgle mischievously. Instead, the silence and calmness of the deepest lakes and oceanic holes, which can be hundreds of feet deep, is astounding.
Small pieces of ice float on the ocean's surface and aren't submerged very deeply. In contrast, most of an iceberg is submerged in water due to its vast size and weight, earning it the nickname "the tip of the iceberg."
Larger, heavier chunks of ice tend to sink further than their smaller, lighter counterparts.
In the ocean, intelligent people are like black holes or icebergs. They are so preoccupied with their own thoughts—conversations, dialogues, investigations, and inward discussions—that they eventually go silent. Their lack of speech should not be seen as an indication of mental incapacity.
When the human mind has to think, it naturally shuts down and becomes absorbed in what it's processing. Little kids can be surprisingly quiet once they find something they enjoy doing. Would you agree that they do?
To drown out their own negative thoughts and feelings, persons who have recently experienced tragedy, sadness, or anxiety are encouraged to go out and keep busy with activities like dancing, working out, or interacting with others. They are able to overcome their sadness and return to a regular life as a result of this.
A common trait of talkative people is a lack of reflection. It has always been said that all sages, philosophers, scholars, Learners, etc. are introverted and reserved. In other words, none of them were the types who strike up conversations with strangers at a party.
One more explanation for their silence is:
They are prepared for the fact that no one will get what they are saying. As a result, they choose to remain silent.
They can't seem to hook up with any good pals. No one around them has the attention span, mental capacity, curiosity, or desire to engage in rational discourse with them. That's why they want to be alone themselves.
To maintain a conversational charade with regular folk uses up mental resources and makes them slower thinkers. They see conversation as a pointless activity.
Sometimes they act strangely quiet, like they don't know anything, but in reality they are just listening intently to something fascinating while secretly sketching their own ideas. They are staying silent since doing so would give their strategy away.
They are reluctant to demonstrate their superiority for fear of provoking hostility.
Believe me, when they're deep in thought about anything, they can't always hear the twenty others talking animatedly around them. They need to be dragged back into the same room sometimes.
They need to do a lot of abstract thinking and pondering in order to look at their problems, questions, themes, and concepts from all possible angles and come up with the proper solutions.
They can't function mentally without using their brains. The only way for them to achieve that is to shut off the outside and focus on what's going on within their heads, which leads to silence.
They pay more attention to what they hear than they do to meaningless small talk.
They take pleasure in silence in a way that other people don't. Normal individuals can be driven crazy by such eerily quiet environments, which can also cause them anxiety and depression.
In summary, intelligent people can talk at length (to the point of exhausting themselves and others) when they have something worthwhile to say, can listen intently when they have something to learn, and are typically very engaged and enthusiastic when in the company of others and discussing a topic that piques their interest.
If they aren't, though, they come across as uninterested, absent-minded, and weird. However, don't be deceived. Like a submarine cavern or the buried depths of an iceberg, they are concealing something in their silence.
