Grammar mistakes that you must avoid

Everyone occasionally commits grammatical errors, although some are harder to spot than others. Even the most seasoned writer will slip up and mistakenly use "less" instead of "fewer" or the passive voice in place of the active. One can do these by easily availing english homework help .

But it is not very difficult if you follow the right method. For the same first you need to understand the errors and grammatical mistakes that must be avoided.

Here in this blog you will get to know about the common grammar mistakes. Make sure to keep a note of them.

Subject-Verb Agreement Errors –

The subject and the verb must match in writing, which is a common error made by writers. The subject and verb must have the same number, whether that be singular or multiple. If there is only one subject, the verb must concur and represent that.

For example –

Incorrect: Our dogs is running in the park.

Correct: Our dogs are running in the park.

Sentence Fragments –

Sentence fragments are unfinished sentences. An independent clause or a complete verb must be present for the phrase to be regarded complete and correct. The most frequent instance of a sentence fragment is when a second sentence depends on a first sentence for its meaning. For instance:

Incorrect: I don’t like to eat brussel sprouts. Because I dislike the taste.

Correct: I don’t like to eat brussel sprouts because I dislike the taste.

Contractions and Apostrophes –

Many people have trouble deciding when to use an apostrophe or a contraction. Whether "its" vs. "it's," "your" vs. "you're," or "they're" vs. "their" vs. "there," the contraction is important.

Anything with an apostrophe typically denotes possession or a contraction. You need an apostrophe if you can substitute "it is" or "it has" for "it's" in a sentence without losing meaning. Similar to this, when employing contractions, if you can state "you are" in a sentence, "you're" should be used in place of "your." Let's look at some illustrations.

Incorrect: Its cold outside today.

Correct: It’s [it is] cold outside today.

Incorrect: I don’t understand why your mad, their the ones who made a mistake.

Correct: I don’t understand why you’re [you are] mad, they’re [they are] the ones who made a mistake.

Passive Voice -

When the object is placed at the start of a sentence rather than the conclusion, the passive voice is frequently used. When the object comes first, the verb occurs to the object rather than the object creating the verb.

The sentence has to be made active in order to rectify this error. Even for seasoned writers, this is a quite common error, and it can be challenging to spot. Here are a few instances:

Passive: The baby was held by its mother.

Active: The mother was holding her baby.

Dangling Modifiers –

A phrase, sentence, or even a single word that stands alone from the term it is modifying or describing is known as a hanging modifier. It sounds uncomfortable and can be difficult to understand when reading. Chances are there is a mistake in your statement if it is unclear exactly what is being changed.

Incorrect: Checking in his bag, the book was not found.

Correct: Checking in his bag, he didn’t find his book.
