In addition to standard luggage regulations, the Lufthansa Airlines Baggage Policy includes clear guidelines for items that are restricted or prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage. These rules are designed to ensure passenger safety and comply with international aviation standards. Passengers are strictly prohibited from carrying hazardous materials such as explosives, flammable liquids, compressed gases, and corrosive substances. Items like fireworks, lighter fuel, and certain chemical products are not allowed under any circumstances. Moreover, lithium batteries, often found in electronics, must be transported according to strict regulations—spare lithium batteries are permitted only in carry-on luggage and must be properly insulated to avoid short-circuiting. Lufthansa also has specific rules about transporting liquids in carry-on bags. In accordance with international guidelines, liquids must be stored in containers of 100 ml or less and placed in a transparent, resealable plastic bag not exceeding 1 liter in total. This applies to toiletries, beverages, and similar items. Medical necessities and baby food are exceptions but may require additional screening at airport security. For items like power banks, electronic cigarettes, and drones, Lufthansa provides detailed instructions on whether they can be carried in the cabin or must be checked. Firearms and ammunition can only be transported with prior approval and must meet strict packaging and declaration requirements.
