Fildena works by enhancing blood flow to the penis, helping men achieve and maintain an erection during sexual stimulation. Its active ingredient, sildenafil citrate, belongs to a class of Fildena drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Normally, during sexual arousal, the body releases nitric oxide, which increases levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This chemical relaxes the smooth muscles in the penile blood vessels, allowing more blood to enter. PDE5 breaks down cGMP, but sildenafil blocks this enzyme, allowing cGMP to remain active longer. As a result, Fildena promotes stronger, longer-lasting erections. However, it only works with sexual stimulation.
