Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd Test Highlights: Litton Das’ Brilliant 126 Lifts Bangladesh to 278 in Sylhet

Bangladesh found themselves under pressure once again, but a superb century from Litton Das turned the innings around in the second Test against Pakistan at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.

After Pakistan won the toss and chose to bowl first, their pace attack made an immediate impact. Bangladesh slipped early, and at one stage it looked like they could be bundled out for a modest total. But Litton Das stood tall with a magnificent 126 off 159 balls, guiding the hosts to a respectable first-innings score of 278.

For fans who closely follow Test cricket and enjoy analysing match momentum, this was the kind of innings that showed exactly why patience and shot selection matter. Many cricket enthusiasts tracking games through an Online Cricket Id would have appreciated just how dramatically Litton changed the course of the day.

Pakistan Make the Perfect Start

Pakistan could not have asked for a better beginning.

On just the second ball of the innings, Mohammad Abbas dismissed Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck. The opener pushed tentatively outside off stump, and Salman Agha completed a sharp catch at second slip.

Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mominul Haque tried to counterattack. Both played some attractive strokes, especially through the off side, and Bangladesh recovered to 50. But Pakistan continued to strike at regular intervals.

Abbas removed Tanzid for 26, while Khurram Shahzad produced a beauty to bowl Mominul for 22.

At that stage, Bangladesh were struggling and Pakistan were firmly in control.

Shanto and Mushfiqur Steady the Innings

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim brought some much-needed calm.

They avoided risks, rotated strike, and slowly rebuilt the innings. Shanto looked compact in defence and punished loose deliveries, while Mushfiqur was patient as usual.

The partnership helped Bangladesh cross 100, but Pakistan stayed disciplined.

Mohammad Abbas broke through again when Shanto edged behind for 29. Soon after, Khurram Shahzad trapped Mushfiqur lbw for 23.

When Mehidy Hasan Miraz also departed cheaply, Bangladesh were in serious trouble.

Litton Das Changes the Match

This was the moment Litton Das took charge.

He began cautiously, respecting the new ball and Pakistan’s disciplined seamers. Once settled, however, he shifted gears beautifully.

His footwork against Sajid Khan was excellent. He used the crease well, stepped out to drive over the infield, and swept with confidence. Against the fast bowlers, he was equally impressive, pulling short deliveries and punching through cover.

The century came in style when he punched Khurram Shahzad through the covers for four. It was his sixth Test hundred and one of his finest knocks in recent years.

What made the innings special was the context. Bangladesh were under pressure, wickets were falling, and Pakistan had all the momentum. Litton absorbed the pressure and then turned the game back in Bangladesh’s favour.

Valuable Support from the Lower Order

Litton was not alone.

Taijul Islam contributed 16 important runs, while Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam stayed with him long enough to frustrate Pakistan.

Shoriful, in particular, played positively and added some useful boundaries.

These lower-order partnerships were crucial because they pushed Bangladesh from a vulnerable position to a competitive total.

Hasan Ali Wraps Up the Innings

Pakistan eventually ended the resistance late in the innings.

Hasan Ali dismissed Litton Das for 126 and then removed Nahid Rana to finish with two wickets in quick succession.

Mohammad Abbas was outstanding once again, claiming early wickets and maintaining relentless accuracy. Khurram Shahzad also made key breakthroughs, while Sajid Khan chipped in with important wickets in the middle overs.

Bangladesh 1st Innings Scorecard Summary

Litton Das: 126 (159)
Najmul Hossain Shanto: 29
Mushfiqur Rahim: 23
Tanzid Hasan Tamim: 26
Bangladesh: 278 all out

Pakistan Bowling Highlights

Mohammad Abbas: Excellent control and early wickets
Khurram Shahzad: Crucial middle-order breakthroughs
Sajid Khan: Effective in the middle session
Hasan Ali: Two wickets late in the innings

Who Has the Advantage?

The match remains evenly poised.

Pakistan will be satisfied with restricting Bangladesh to 278 after the hosts looked capable of going past 320. But Bangladesh will feel confident because Litton Das has given their bowlers something substantial to defend.

The first session of Pakistan’s innings will be critical. If Bangladesh can strike early, the pressure will shift quickly.

Final Thoughts

Litton Das produced an innings of real quality when Bangladesh needed it the most.

His 126 was a blend of composure, timing, and smart shot selection. More importantly, it transformed Bangladesh from a struggling side into one with a fighting total.

Pakistan still have a great opportunity to take control, but Bangladesh will know that one outstanding individual effort has already changed the complexion of this Test match.
