Bangladesh vs Pakistan 2nd Test Highlights: Litton Das’ Brilliant 126 Lifts Bangladesh to 278 in Sylhet

When Bangladesh were reduced to 0 for 1 in just the second ball of the innings, it looked like Pakistan had taken complete control of the second Test in Sylhet.

But Test cricket has a funny way of changing direction.

One end kept losing wickets, yet Litton Das stood firm. Calm, composed, and increasingly aggressive as the innings progressed, Litton produced one of the finest hundreds of his Test career to guide Bangladesh to 278 in their first innings.

For long periods, Pakistan’s bowlers asked all the right questions. However, Litton’s magnificent 126 ensured Bangladesh posted a competitive total on a pitch that offered enough assistance for both seamers and spinners.

For fans following the match through an Online Cricket Id, it was a classic Test innings built on patience, skill, and timely counterattack.

Pakistan Strike Immediately After Winning the Toss

Pakistan captain Shan Masood won the toss and chose to bowl first under helpful morning conditions.

The decision paid off almost instantly.

Mohammad Abbas dismissed Mahmudul Hasan Joy for a duck in the very first over. Bangladesh were under pressure from the start, but Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Mominul Haque responded with a few attractive boundaries to settle early nerves.

Tamim looked positive for his 26, but Abbas struck again when the left-hander chipped a simple catch back to the bowler.

At 54 for 2, Bangladesh were still searching for a substantial partnership.

Mominul and Shanto Provide Stability

Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto added valuable runs during a steady rebuilding phase.

Mominul was fluent through the off side and reached 22 before Khurram Shahzad bowled him with a delivery that swung in sharply.

Shanto then partnered with veteran Mushfiqur Rahim to keep Bangladesh moving. Their stand took the hosts past the 100-run mark, but Pakistan remained disciplined and did not allow the scoring rate to get out of control.

Abbas produced another crucial breakthrough when Shanto edged behind for 29.

Soon after, Mushfiqur was trapped lbw by Khurram Shahzad for 23.

At 151 for 5, Bangladesh were in genuine trouble.

Litton Das Takes Charge

This was the moment Litton Das transformed the innings.

He began cautiously, respected the good deliveries, and gradually started to expand his range. Once set, he looked increasingly confident against both pace and spin.

He swept Sajid Khan effectively, drove with authority, and punished anything short from the seamers.

Litton reached his half-century with a fortunate edge over the slips, but there was nothing lucky about what followed.

As wickets continued to fall around him, he shifted gears and farmed the strike intelligently.

A Superb Century Under Pressure

Litton brought up his sixth Test hundred in style, punching Khurram Shahzad through the covers for four.

The celebration was modest, but the innings itself was exceptional.

Bangladesh had been in a difficult position, and Litton absorbed the pressure beautifully before turning the momentum with a series of boundaries and cleanly struck sixes.

He found useful support from Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, and especially Shoriful Islam, who helped add important lower-order runs.

By the time Litton was dismissed for 126 off 159 balls, he had hit 16 fours and 2 sixes.

It was a knock full of quality and maturity.

Pakistan Bowling Performance

Pakistan’s bowling effort was disciplined throughout the day.

Abbas was outstanding with the new ball, finishing with three crucial wickets. Khurram Shahzad provided energy and aggression, while Hasan Ali chipped in with two late wickets.

Sajid Khan controlled the middle overs effectively and picked up important breakthroughs.

Even though Litton took the game away for a while, Pakistan will still feel satisfied with restricting Bangladesh to 278 after the hosts were 0 for 1.

Why Litton’s Innings Matters

This was not just another century.

Bangladesh were under pressure, the pitch was offering assistance, and Pakistan’s bowlers were relentless. In those conditions, Litton Das delivered an innings of genuine class.

His ability to balance patience with controlled aggression made the difference between a below-par score and a competitive total.

If Bangladesh go on to challenge strongly in this Test, this century will be remembered as the foundation.

Match Situation

Bangladesh were bowled out for 278 in 77 overs.

Given the early collapse, it is a highly respectable score. Pakistan now have the opportunity to build a first-innings lead, but they know batting in Sylhet will not be straightforward.

The second Test remains evenly poised.
