Diablo IV Season 13 has pushed the Blood Wave Necromancer into the spotlight, and right now it's easily one of the strongest endgame builds in the game. Players are using it to clear high Pit tiers, speed farm difficult content, and melt bosses with huge Overpower damage. The best part is that the gameplay loop stays surprisingly simple — most of the time you're just spamming Blood Wave and watching entire screens disappear.
The build revolves around scaling Overpower damage as high as possible while turning Blood Wave into your main source of DPS. Early on, many players level with a mix of Blood Surge and Blood Wave until they finally get Kessime's Legacy, which is basically the item that unlocks the build's true potential. Once equipped, Blood Wave becomes dramatically stronger thanks to the extra converging waves and enemy pull effect, making both bossing and mob clearing much smoother.
Resource management is one of the few things you actually need to pay attention to. The build burns through Essence quickly, so getting enough Essence regeneration on gear matters a lot. Most setups aim for at least 10 Essence per second along with Lucky Hit resource restoration tempers on rings to keep Blood Wave flowing constantly during longer fights.
The skill rotation itself is pretty easy to learn. Iron Maiden gets applied first to curse enemies, then Hemorrhage helps freeze targets and build some control, while Bone Prison locks enemies down and boosts attack speed before you start unloading Blood Waves. Once everything is grouped together, the damage ramps up extremely fast.
One interesting part of the build is that you sacrifice all your minions through the Book of the Dead instead of running a traditional summoner setup. The bonuses from sacrificed minions end up being much stronger for this playstyle. Defenders help generate Blood Orbs, Bone Mages increase damage while Overpower stacks are active, and the Iron Golem sacrifice adds extra Critical Strike Damage.
Gear matters a lot once you move into higher Pit tiers. Kessime's Legacy is basically mandatory, while Heir of Perdition gives a huge damage boost alongside useful mobility. Ring of Starless Skies also helps solve most of the resource problems by reducing skill costs over time, which makes the build feel much smoother during long runs.
For legendary aspects, most players prioritize Tides of Blood Aspect, Aspect of Amplified Damage, and Aspect of Coalesced Blood since they all massively boost Blood skill scaling and damage against cursed enemies. Once the setup starts coming together, the damage numbers become honestly ridiculous.
The Paragon board progression is fairly standard for high-end Necromancer builds, but leveling glyphs properly makes a huge difference. Most players rush the Frailty glyph first because it synergizes incredibly well with Red Blessing scaling. After that, boards like Flesh-Eater and Blood Begets Blood help push both damage and survivability higher for deeper Pit runs.
Season 13's new systems also work surprisingly well with Blood Wave Necromancer. Talismans, War Plans, and some of the new Horadric mechanics all add extra layers of scaling that make the build even stronger than expected. Red Blessing remains the top priority charm for damage, while Banished Lord's Talisman is another massive power spike once you get it.
In actual gameplay, the build feels both powerful and safe, which is why so many players are gravitating toward it. You can wipe out huge enemy packs instantly while still having enough survivability to handle difficult boss mechanics. Blood Mist gives solid panic-button defense, and the build's natural crowd control helps prevent situations from getting too dangerous.
Right now, Blood Wave Necromancer feels like one of the most complete builds in Diablo IV Season 13. It has incredible scaling, smooth gameplay, top-tier boss damage, and enough toughness to survive some of the hardest content in the game. Whether you're casually farming or trying to push the highest Pit tiers possible, it's one of the strongest choices available this season.
