I've been working with amethyst for a while now — selling it, wearing it, and honestly just genuinely loving this stone.
One thing I notice is that amethyst doesn't get enough credit in the jewelry community. People jump straight to diamonds, sapphires, rubies — but amethyst jewelry is sitting right there being underrated.
A few things I've personally observed:
Durability: Mohs 7 — solid enough for daily wear. I wear an amethyst ring regularly and haven't had issues. Bezel setting is safer for rings, prong if you want more color visibility.
Versatility: Purple works with everything. Casual outfit, formal wear, doesn't matter. Amethyst necklace, amethyst bracelet, amethyst earrings — all easy to style.
Quality to watch for: Deep even purple with no grey or brown undertones is what you want. Heat treatment is standard in the industry — nothing wrong with it, just confirm it's natural and certified.
Green amethyst (Prasiolite): Honestly underrated even within amethyst lovers. Pale green, modern look, pairs beautifully with silver. Worth trying if you haven't.
I had a customer recently ask me about amethyst spiritual meaning in detail — Crown Chakra, Third Eye Chakra activation, stress relief. That side of amethyst has a genuine following and I think it adds to why people connect with this stone beyond just aesthetics.
