I'm curious about other travelers' experiences. If you have a long layover, do you usually leave the airport or stay inside?
I've heard that it can be a great way to explore a new city, grab some local food, or simply take a break from the terminal. Of course, it depends on factors like visa requirements, how far the can you leave the airport during a 4 hour layover is from the city, and how much time you actually have before your next flight.
For those who have done it, how many hours did your layover last? Did you feel rushed, or was there plenty of time to get back through security and make your flight comfortably? Also, are there any airports or cities where you'd especially recommend leaving the airport during a layover?
I'd love to hear your tips, mistakes to avoid, and any memorable experiences. It seems like a long layover can either be a wasted day or an unexpected mini adventure with a little planning.
Looking forward to hearing your recommendations!
