I’m helping plan a family celebration and we’re trying to make the event feel more personal without making the dress code too complicated. We were thinking about choosing a color theme and encouraging guests to wear something that reflects their personality and culture.
Has anyone here used a clothing or outfit theme for a birthday party, family gathering, reunion, or other celebration? I’ve seen people use everything from matching colors to cultural styles. I also came across the term Melanin Apparel, which seems like it could fit the idea of celebrating cultural identity through what people wear.
For those who have organized something similar, did you give guests specific outfit suggestions, or just let everyone interpret the theme in their own way? I’d also be interested in hearing what worked well for keeping the theme fun without making guests feel like they had to buy a completely new outfit.
